Kuroishi is a town that has produced numerous folk song performers (singers, hand dancers, shamisen players, etc.). Kuroishi is also one of the leading folk dance towns in eastern Japan, with the Kuroishi Yosare, one of Japan’s three major nagashi odori (flowing dance) performances, held every August.
